Junk Removal in Moody, AL
One of Alabama's largest landfills sits in Moody — and it pipes its gas six miles to fire a brick kiln.
Moody is home to Star Ridge Landfill, a 770-acre site on Acmar Road with over 300 acres permitted for disposal. It takes roughly 1,100 tons a day, serves the entire state, and has well over a century of remaining capacity.
It's also one of the more interesting waste facilities in Alabama. Built on a former coal mine, it pipes about 900 cubic feet per minute of landfill gas through a six-and-a-half-mile line to Acme Brick, which burns it as kiln fuel. It was named Alabama's private landfill of the year by ADEM in 2012.

A landfill next door doesn't empty your garage
Moody residents have unusually good disposal access. That solves the end of the problem, not the middle of it:
- Household collection runs through a contracted hauler on a weekly cart, not a bulk-item program
- Getting a sectional, a hot tub, or an appliance out of the house is the hard part, not the driving
- Renovation and demolition debris needs a vehicle that can legally carry it
- A full garage, barn, or house clearing is several loads, not one
Leeds Public Works points its own residents to Star Ridge for material the city won't take, which gives a sense of how much of the area's overflow ends up there.
We load it, haul it, and dispose of it — which in Moody means a short trip rather than a long one. Cleanouts, estate clearings, outbuildings, and construction debris are the work we come out for.

FAQ
Moody junk removal questions

- It's a commercial landfill on Acmar Road rather than a municipal convenience center, so call ahead about access, fees, and what they'll accept from individuals.
